How to Plan Your Home for Everyday Use & Entertaining

How to plan your home buffet table of sweets

Wouldn’t it be nice to have your home serve for everyday use, but also cater to entertaining and special events? I thought so. Here are some tips to help you get your house ready before the guests arrive.

Tip 1: Create a Seating Plan

There’s nothing worse than having guests come and not having enough seats for them to sit in. Make sure to plan in advance for adding extensions to your dining table and bringing in chairs from other rooms. Another great tip is using nesting tables. They can be tucked under one another for everyday use, but be spread out so your guests’ drinks and appetizers have a place to land.

Tip 2: Use Multi-Functional Items for Style & Storage

Consider incorporating multi-functional storage items into your everyday design plan. Adding a beautiful credenza or sideboard can add to your room’s overall look, but also offer great storage for items your need for special events like serving ware and linens.

Tip 3: Have a Plan for Seasonal Décor

Seasonal décor gives you that special finishing touch when planning out a special event. However, organizing these items can be a challenge. Make sure to have clear plastic bins with labels at the ready before you dismantle your holiday décor. You can even take a quick photo of all your items and stick it to the lid so you know exactly what’s inside.
